Double Team ! Sunday March 24th – SOMO Center 2:00-4:15 pm This Spring’s Courageous Conversation session focuses on the emotional needs of parents and kids living with special needs. From reviewing good parenting advice for managing kids with special needs to helping our special ones accept themselves as they are, these presenters are sure to inform and delight. Come relax, gain insight and confidence! Free but RSVP! Love and Logic® – for Autism! Local Autism expert Lorraine Klim-Drew leads us through the well known ideology with an eye towards applying the principles to our kids with disabilities! Tricks of the trade to keep us focused on staying in control and helping our kids be the best they can be! Sunday March 24 from 2:00-3:00 pm followed by: Helping your child accept their disability while maintaining healthy self esteem! – Gabrielle Seekely M.Ed.,LPC-S, BCPC Psycho-educational consultant and counselor, Gabrielle believes there is a significant connection between communication and emotion. She specializes in the emotional needs of teens and young adults with neurological disorders. We are grateful to have her lead our Courageous Conversation on how best to help individuals accept their disabilities while maintaining positive self esteem. Lemonade Day, May 1, 2011Eight Social Motion Skills high school class students flexed their entrepreneurial muscle and sold 142 cups of the best cold lemonade in Houston down at Discovery Green during this year’s nationwide Lemonade Day. With their colorful, hand-built lemonade stand and friendly customer service skills, this savvy group raised enough money to donate 15% of their profits to the Houston Food Bank plus pocket a little change themselves after expenses.This was a fun, interactive way to teach kids about running a business.Check out the Lemonade Day on YouTube! |
